Just good old ground chuck with salt, don't pack em too tight, let sit in the fridge for an hour before grilling, and then slap on the bbq until done.

I start by using a good groung beef. Your ordinary store bought ground beef can be good but, if you really want special, select a good cut of beef and have the market grind it for you. I would not trim a lot of the fat because fat does add flavor. At home with about 2 lbs of ground beef, add 2 tablespoons of worchestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 large finely diced yellow onion, half a teaspoon of Everglades Seasoning (If your store doesnt have this I dont know a good sub), and season to taste with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix ingredients well and place in fridge in a covered bowl and leave there for a least and hour for the flavors to mix. Make the patties large round but thin thick. Seer both sides for about 1 min (cook on med heat in a cast iron skillet or on the grill) and do not press the patties to squeeze the juice out. If you want cheese burgers add the cheese before serving but not until the cheese has melted. Cook until done and serve on toasted buns with the condiments on the side to keep everything dry.

This works for me. I hope this works for you too.
Roll your hamburger into balls and roll the balls into a plate full of either worchester sauce or ketchup. Flatten balls to form burgers. Sprinkle with onion powder and garlic salt. I'm actually not a big fan of hamburgers, but these are good. I like to make Cheeseburger Macaroni Hamburger Helper instead - I add cheddar cheese and some Mrs. Dash to it. So good.
Buy some steak seasoning like grill mates and mix it into the meat before you cook it. You can also try any other seasoning that would accent beef or turkey or whatever meat you want to use.
