What's a good hamburger recipe?

I have a thawed out pound of hamburger, and I want to use it for dinner tonight, but I have absolutely no clue what to do with it.

I would like to make homemade hamburgers, but anything else using hamburger meat would be great, too.

It is snowing really bad here, so I don't want to have to go out to get any crazy ingredients, please keep the recipes fairly normal.

I also have to please a 7 year old, keep that in mind because of course it is very important.

Thanks!What's a good hamburger recipe?

Grilled ALLSPICE Hamburger

2 lbs. lean ground beef

2 tsp. finely chopped garlic

1/2 tsp. ground allspice

1/4 tsp. ground cloves

1/4 tsp. crumbled dried thyme

1 1/2 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

1/2 c. beef stock, fresh or canned

Vegetable oil

Combine all ingredients except oil in a deep bowl. Knead vigorously with both hands until ingredients are well blended. Then pour in the stock and beat with a wooden spoon until the mixture is smooth and fluffy. Taste for seasoning. Divide the mixture into 18 equal portions and roll each one into a cylinder about 3 1/2 inches long and 1 inch thick, moistening your hands with cold water as you proceed.

Grill or broil on the highest setting about 3 inches from the heat for about 8 minutes, turning them with a spatula or tongs every few minutes until they are crisp and brown on all sides.

I always put Parmesan %26amp; Chili Peppers on the table-in

case someone wants to spice them up.
Finely chop or blend 1 onion, a clove of garlic and some parsley (use dried herbs in place of, or as well as, the parsley...or leave them out) and mix in with the meat, together with a good dash of salt and pepper and a teaspoon of mustard (Dijon if possible). Mix well and form into burgers. Leave the garlic out too if your 7 year old may not like it.
Brown meat, add any spices you wish to add. Add one cup of salsa and one can of tomato soup - homemade sloppy joes.

Or you can brown the meat, add a can of spaghetti sauce, and frozen corn. I then boil noodles of some sort and add those - mix it all together and you have a chili mac meal.

Otherwise, to make my hamburgers more tasty, I add finely chopped onion - no one ever notices it, so I'm assuming your 7 year old won't either.

Good luck!

TDNBUGS BBQ HAMBURGERS

3 lbs. of 85/15 ground beef

1 large onion

2 large lemons

1 large green bell pepper

1 clove garlic

1 bottle of bbq sauce ';your choice';

Slice onion, lemons, bell pepper and garlic and put them into a crockpot. Add BBQ sauce and enough water to cover the burgers, then set the heat on low. Make beef patties to preferred size, cook them on a charcoal grill until well done. They have to be well done or they will fall apart in the crock.

After the burgers are done on the grill, put them in the crockpot and slow cook them for one hour.

Serve them on a thick bun with a slice of fresh onion and hand cut french fries on the side. These are so tasty.I need the best homemade hamburger recipe.?
get some nice juicy beef let it simmer until it starts to bust
I watched a show on hgtv yesterday that was all about hamburgers. One guy pattied out his hamburger on the inside of a jar lid lined with plastic wrap and kind of made a little indentation in the center. He put some shredded cheese and chopped up bacon in the center and then topped it with another hamburger patty and smushed it together. He said the trick is not getting the filling too much toward the edges so that both the hamburgers sealed and the filling didn't leak out.

It sounded like the best hamburger idea I'd heard of!
Try this one, its yummy:

Beef burgers with a touch of Garlic and Lemon Zest

Ingredients:

* 8 medium Tomatoes

* 2 tsp Balsamic Vinegar

* 60 ml Olive oil

* 1.5 kg minced Beef

* 2 tsp finely grated Lemon zest

* 4 cloves Garlic, crushed

* 1 tbsp fresh Oregano, roughly chopped

* 1 loaf Ciabatta

* 200 g Fetta, crumbled

* 100 g baby Rocket leaves

Method:

* Cut tomatoes into wedges, drizzle with some vinegar and olive oil and cook uncovered in the hot oven for 25 minutes.

* Meanwhile, combine beef, lemon zest, garlic and oregano in a large bowl, shape them into 8 patties, cook them on grill or barbecue until brown on both sides and cooked through.

* Cut bread into 16 slices, brush with oil and garlic, cook on the grill until golden brown.

* Serve patties on warm bread with rocket, fetta and roast tomatoes on top.

Tip:

* Make Patties slightly larger than your bread as they will shrink after cooking.

* Avoid overmixing the ingredients as this can make the mixture heavy and dense.

Once I made a really tasty, low-fat soup with mushrooms, broken up hamburger, pieces of red bell pepper, and some other vegetables I can't remember. Use 1 can of low sodium beef stock and the same amount of water. Throw in some bow shaped pasta for until soft. (If you're going to use the soup for left-overs, don't put pasta in the whole soup, but cook it separately and add it only to what you're going to eat right then, otherwise it will turn to mush by the next day.)

Very quick, easy and tasty. Add some crushed red pepper to the mix if you like picante.
cook it regularly as you would a hamburger. make plenty. depending on your family size you will need a can of cream of mushroom soup (from campbells) mix mushroom soup with a small amount of water and put hamburgers and soup mix in a baking pan and cook in the oven for about 20 minutes of until done. serve with rice and your favorite vegetables. it is delicious. good luck

Mexican Casserole, if you want the recipe you can e-mail me for it. Don't let my screen name get to you I really am not pissed off. I also changed my screen namel.
well in England they have something called ';Sheppards Pie'; (it's more a casserole than pie really)and it usually involes ground lamb(yuk!), but many people like me use ground beef. you can make it in many different ways and add many different things(or not)to it to make a differnet dish each time eventhough you use similar ingredients. what i do is i boil the gound beef until it is a uniforn grayish color then i drain it in a collander and then gently rinse it to get off as much of the fat as possible. I then put it back in the pot with more fresh water and bring it to a boil again and you can add little seasoning of choice and you can either add beef flavored bullion and/or beef powdered gravy mix or whatever you might use to make a thick beefy gravy, enough to make it nice and thick and beefy.

then you can either serve it like that with potatos, boiled or mashed or roasted, and a favorite veggie, you can even add the veggies to the meat and gravy as it cooks. or you can put the finished meat in a casserole dish and mix in corn or peas or whatever your family likes and then cover it with either scalloped or mashed potatoes and bake it until the potato browns. you can sprinkle cheese on the top too if you like. my aunt used to sometimes add plain elbow pasta to the meat and cover the top with sliced tomatoes and cheese. you can add onions, carrots anything you like really. make it your own! basically you start with the beefy gravyed meat and add from there. don't forget you can do the same with ground turkey too. i am english, but live in california and this is my american husband and childrens favorite meal. another thing you can do is make sure the gravy is very thick in the meat and put the meat in a thick pastry crust and cover it with more pastry and bake. if you would like to make more of a stew type meal with ground beef you can ommit the thick gravy and just add the bullion to the water and meat with potatos, and veggies. these are the kinds of things i make with ground beef. hope these ideas help. email me if you have any questions.

I love hamburgers! Take ground beef, onion flakes, garlic salt, pepper, worchister sauce and make two patty. (you could also add beaten egg, crushed crackers to the ground beef) then place some cheddar cheese sliced from a block of cheese right in the middle of these two patties. Grill it. Yummy!
My dad makes this awesome meatloaf. It's kind of a kitchen sink recipe. You take ground beef (ground turkey works well too, just go a little heavier on the spices) and mix in dried oatmeal and eggs(the eggs helps it all stick together) and onions and peppers and tomatoes and ketchup and bbq sauce and some people even like walnuts and you mix it all together and cook it in a 9x13 pan, or whatever you have handy, and it is sooooo good. In my opinion, the more onions, the better, and it doesn't even matter what kind or kinds of onion! Put the flavors you like into it! It's fun and turns and out different every time, but still really good.

Break in the egg and mix well with hands or fork. Shape the meat into 4 large patties, each about 1 inch thick. Place the burgers on a greased grill about 4 inches above hot coals. Burger of the Gods

8 ounces chuck, trimmed, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes

8 ounces sirloin, trimmed, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes

    1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

In separate batches, pulse the chuck and the sirloin in a food processor 10 times. Combine the chuck, sirloin, and kosher salt in a large bowl. Form the meat into 5-ounce patties.

Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Place the hamburger patties in the pan. For medium-rare burgers, cook the patties for 4 minutes on each side. For medium burgers, cook the patties for 5 minutes on each side. Flip the burgers only once during cooking.
    1 lb hamburger meat

2 heaping tablespoons of chopped fresh rosemary leaves (not the stem)

    2 Tbsp A1 sauce

Salt and pepper to taste (perhaps half a teaspoon of each).

    Buns

    Lettuce

    Tomatoes, sliced

    Onions, sliced

    Avocado, peeled, pitted and sliced

    Mayonaise, ketchup, mustard

    Method

Mix the rosemary and A1 sauce into the hamburger meat, distributing evenly. Add salt and fresh ground pepper. Form out the hamburger patties. If the meat is low-fat, you may want to add some grapeseed oil or olive oil to the mixture, or after the patties are made (but before cooked), rub some oil over them. Place on a hot grill or grill pan. If you are indoors with a grill pan, be sure to use your stove fan. If on grill pan, lower the heat to medium high. Grill on one side until you can see the juice begin to run at the surface. Flip over and grill on the other side, again until you can see some juice coming through. If you wish, grill the buns on remaining grill surface. Onions can be either served fresh with the hamburger or saut茅ed a little in olive oil.

Serve burgers with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, avocado, mayo, ketchup, and or mustard.
These are real good - Hawaiian Turkey Burgers.

1 (8 oz) can sliced pineapple

    1/2 cup dry bread crumbs

    1/2 cup sliced green onions

1/2 cup chopped sweet red pepper

1 tbs. reduced sodium soy sauce

    1/4 tsp. salt

    1 lb. lean ground turkey

1/4 cup reduced sodium teriyaki sauce

    4 sesame seed hamburger buns

Coat grill rack with cooking spray before starting the grill. Drain pineapple, reserving 1/4 cup juice (discard remaining juice or save for another use); set pineapple aside. In a bowl, combine the bread crumbs, onions, red pepper, soy sauce, salt %26amp; reserved pineapple juice. Crumble turkey over mixture %26amp; mix well. Shape into four patties.

Grill, covered, over medium heat for 3 minutes on each side. Brush with teriyaki sauce. Grill 4-6 minutes longer on each side or until meat is no longer pink %26amp; a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees. Grill pineapple slices for 2 minutes on each side, basting occasionally with teriyaki sauce. Warm buns on grill; top each with a burger %26amp; pineapple slice.

I used what I had in the house which was green bell pepper %26amp; regular soy sauce. Didn't have teriyaki sauce but I do now. You could probably use ground beef too.
    BEEFBURGER

    Makes 2 quarter pounders

    INGREDIENTS

    250g of lean minced beef*

    Ground pepper to taste

    1 tablespoon of sunflower oil

    METHOD

Divide the mince into two halves. Squeeze each half into a ball and then flatten it out into a disc. Make them firm, so that they don鈥檛 fall apart. Make them chunky, as thin edges will cook too quickly. Season with the pepper.

Put the oil into a frying pan on a medium heat. Fry the burgers for about 5 minutes on each side.

    ADDITIONS %26amp; ALTERNATIVES

Add some finely chopped onion. Add some herbs.

Use minced lamb, pork or turkey instead of minced beef. If you use minced lamb, add some finely chopped mint, dried mint or some mint sauce. If you use minced pork, add some finely chopped apple or some apple sauce. If you use minced turkey, add some cranberry sauce.

If you need to make the mince go further, add some grated carrot.

If the burgers won鈥檛 hold together, add some beaten egg. If you make the mixture too wet, add some breadcrumbs.

Cook the burgers under a preheated medium grill for about 5 minutes on each side instead of frying. If the mince is very lean, you might need to coat the burgers with a little oil.

    TIPS

Chilling the burgers in the fridge helps them to hold together whilst cooking.

You can make the burgers using a burger press. This is a round mould, which you fill with the mince and then press it into uniformly sized burgers. However, hand made burgers have more 鈥榬ustic charm鈥?and there鈥檚 no washing up.

    * Use good quality lean and finely ground mince. The cheaper the mince, the higher the fat content and the more coarsely it is ground. Use chuck steak, which is reasonably cheap but doesn鈥檛 have too much fat, and either get the butcher to grind it, or invest in a meat grinder and do it yourself.
I make these Bacon Blue Cheese Buffalo Burgers. Pretty simple, yet effective.

    - 2lbs Buffalo Meat (I prefer this b/c it is very lean and I think it tastes better. You can of course use ground beef here, which is less expensive.)

    - 1 cup Worchester Sauce

    - Salt and Pepper

    - 1 package crumled blue cheese (16oz)

    - 1 package Bacon

    - Large Sesame Buns (or bread of choice really)

I take the bacon first and fry it up. Drain fat, and get your hands dirty: crumble the bacon. Add 3/4 cup to 1 cup of Worchester sauce, salt and pepper, cooked and crumbled bacon, and 2/3 container of blue cheese crumbles to meat in mixing bowl. Makes 6-8 large patties.

Try topping the burger with the remaining blue cheese crumbles (you want to taste the blue cheese...), fried onions, sauteed mushrooms, etc.

    1 bottle of bbq sauce ';your choice';

    * 8 medium Tomatoes

    * 2 tsp Balsamic Vinegar

    * 60 ml Olive oil

    * 1.5 kg minced Beef

    * 2 tsp finely grated Lemon zest

    * 4 cloves Garlic, crushed

    * 1 tbsp fresh Oregano, roughly chopped

    * 1 loaf Ciabatta

    * 200 g Fetta, crumbled

    * 100 g baby Rocket leaves

    Hamburger and steak recipes????

This beautiful spring weather has enticed me into setting up the patio furniture %26amp; heating up the grill.

I want to make hamburgers and steaks this coming Sunday when my family comes down to visit. However, I've never made either. I'm more of a pasta and chicken person.

Any good recipes for burgers and steaks, send them my way!

    Thanks!Hamburger and steak recipes????
There really is a secret to great burgers:

First, you have to start with meat that is NOT lean, like 85%. (I know, it goes against our instincts, but that's what makes a really juicy hamburger). Next, you need to get a hamburger spice (found in the spice isle). Mix the spice in with the hamburger before you make patties, for a well-distributed flavor. Make nice, round, thick patties. When you grill them, DON'T smash them down with your spatula. You want the juice to stay inside.

Next, you need to find the best condiments you can. Offer several kinds of mustard (I love the spicy german kind), SWEET sliced onions, pickles that fit the hamburger bun, the best tomatoes you can find, ketchup, of course.

As for the bun. DON'T buy the pre-packaged kind, unless you have to. Go to the deli and see if they offer home made buns. Those would be much better. Also...get several kinds of cheese, again from the deli, to offer guests.

I would also make a killer salad or two. This always helps make a meal. Here is one salad everyone raves about, and it's really easy:

    Caesar Coleslaw

    1 pkg pre-made coleslaw

    1/4-1/2 cup shredded parmesean cheese

    1/2 pkg caesar croutons

    1 bottle creamy caesar dressing

Toss first three ingredients together. Add enough dressing to coat. It's even good the next day!

    and another that's quite good:

    Broccoli Cheese Salad

4 cups broccoli, cut into small pieces

    1 red onion, chopped

    1 cup cubed cheddar cheese

    6 slices bacon, cooked, crumbled

Combine above ingredients. Combine 1 cup mayonnaise, 录 cup sugar, and 2 Tbsp vinegar, salt and pepper to taste. Pour over salad.

Potatoe salad is always a hit. I haven't been able to make one that is better than the deli makes. It's called Reeser's potatoe salad. BBQ beans are always wonderful as a side, too.

Steaks are much easier than burgers. It's always great to grill a ribeye or rib steak. Cook for 5 minutes at a time on each side and continue to check for the doneness you want (less time for rare, more time for well done). However, you can use a cheaper cut of meat as long as you cook it at lower heat and slower. We usually get a cheap sirloin and cook it very slow and it turns out tender and wonderful. It also helps to tenderize it first by beating it to death with a meat hammer. (Or ask your butcher to tenderize it first). We put a little steak seasoning (from the spice isle at the grocery store). But that's it. No sauces, etc.

    Hope this helps. Have fun!

Add 1 tbs Worcestershire to a lb of meat.
For the burgers, mix in a little butter, liquid smoke, and Worcester sauce with the meat. When you make the patties, push in the center a tad so that they don't end up like balloons. Cook them rare or medium rare; anything else is a hockey puck.

If you want a cheese burger, put the cheese on the inside of the meat and poke some holes in the top of the patty.

For steak, put a little salt, pepper, and paprika on a rib eye. Brown it in a cast iron skillet with olive oil for 2 mins then put the whole thing in the oven and broil for 3 to 5 more minutes for medium rare.

Personally i like steak burgers, get some good quality steak and chop it finely but dont mash it. Mix with a little salt and pepper (but no oil whatsoever) and form thick patties out of them. Then place it on the oiled grill. Plain is best- just use great quality meat. If you want, brush both sides with bbq sauce after both sides have been grilled.

  • What are some simple hamburger recipes?

Ok so we are low on cash so have not been able to go grocery shopping... I have some simple stuff that I know can go with hamburger but right now my mind is not functioning enough to be creative (long week) I do not have milk though so if you have any recipes that call for that sorry =( I do have stuff like noodles, tomato, tomato paste, a wide array of spices, broths, cheese.... I thought about goulash but would like to be a little more creative than that... any ideas would be appreciated =) btw im only cooking for 2 and have no casserole dishes any moreWhat are some simple hamburger recipes?
Not much to work with so it's hard to be very creative, lol and I don't know what kind of cheese you have.

So, the only thing I can think of is to cook the noodles and brown the ground beef and drain the grease. Add some italian herbs, onion powder and garlic powder (if you have) salt and pepper. Then add chopped tomatoes (from a can or fresh) and a little tomato paste. Cook for 15 minutes or so to break down the tomatoes and infuse the herbs, then serve over noodles and top with cheese. What are some simple hamburger recipes?
do you have any veggis ? OK tomato paste if you have dried oragaino or garlic.. umm noodles.. i cook for 2 and make casserole.. and then have it for lunch..or freeze the rest for next week.

there's a tomato sauces that is just can tomatoes and garlic and oil. you can prob. replace the oil with water Spaghetti and meat..

(cook the meat crumble the the burgers or if they're frozen nook them to defrost then break them up and then put it in the tomatoes.. then you have spaghetti and meat... you prob. knew that huH?
This is a recipe for two servings. Use your tomato paste instead of the juice. It it's too thick, just add a little water. Use whatever vegetable you have if you don't have a green pepper. I think it's the worcestershire sauce that will give it that zing. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Hamburger-M鈥?/a>
This is a good recipe for small budgets. I would cut the recipe in half for two people and you may even have leftovers for lunch.

You could also substitute another vegetable for the olives, such as chopped onion or bell pepper.
Go to recipesource.com and search away! I kinda liked the goulash idea though, sounds like you got the right stuff! If tofu is cheap in your neighborhood try stretching the dish with some firm tofu cubes.

don't use all that stuff others are telling you. you're making a hamburger not a meat loaf. use hamburger meat that is at least 20 % fat, season with salt and pepper and place on a hot grill cooking till the meat is cooked all the way, then add to a bun with a slice of tomato, onion, lettuce, pickle and ketchup or mustard or both. add cheese if you want a cheeseburger
    Beer Burgers

    1 1/2 pounds ground chuck

3 Tablespoons beer - preferably Guinness, otherwise any beer available

    1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce

    salt

    fresh ground pepper

Put all ingredients into a medium bowl and gently mix using two forks. Lightly shape into 4 hamburger patties. Grill on the barbecue or fry in pan on the stove. Serve on hamburger buns with condiments of your choice.

These are also excellent if made one day ahead and refrigerated until grilling time.
    INGREDIENTS:

2 1/4 pounds lean ground beef

    1/4 cup chopped parsley

    salt and pepper to taste

    3/4 cup blue cheese, crumbled

    DIRECTIONS:

    Preheat grill for high heat.

In bowl mix together beef, and parsley.

    Season with salt and pepper.

Form mixture into twelve 3/8 inch thick patties.

Sprinkle 2 tablespoons cheese over one patty, and cover with a second patty.

Lightly oil grate, and arrange burgers on the grill.

Cook for 3 to 5 minutes on each side, or until done.
Mix grnd beef with faves like fresh chopped garlic, diced onion, s/p, worcestershire or soy sauce or bbq sauce, diced mushrooms.

Make two THIN patties and then put a hunk of favorite cheese in the middle (I love LOVE bleu cheese for this) and close the patties around the edges to form giant burgers. Do not press at any point! Grill away from direct heat on grill.

Top with more cheese, red onion, grated lettuce rather than a hunk or whole leaf, tomato, mayo and put on GOOD bun that's been toasted on grill!
    Try this yummy idea:

In a large bowl, mix one pound beef, one pound sausage, chopped onion, dash steak sauce, dash soy sauce. you can also add chopped green pepper, sliced mushrooms, rotel tomatoes.....
to one pound of hamburger add a packet of dry onion soup mix, one egg, 1/2 cup bread crumbs or crumbled crackers (saltines) add some salt and pepper. you might also add some horseradish or worchestire sauce. Also, a really quick and easy way to fix burgers for the grill add salsa or picante sauce to your raw hamburger make patties and grill. I find that the less you do to the hamburger the better - add your basics like salt, pepper, garlic powder or garlic salt, form the patties handling the hamburger no more than is necessary, the more you handle the hamburger the tougher your finished product will be. Same goes for turning burgers on the grill turn once to achieve the most tender patty.
No seasonings, nothing but pure BEEF. Make the patties big, grill only long enough to cook the outside, leaving the inside cold (as in RAW). Slap it on a toasted roll with cheese, ketchup, and fried onions (from a can). Don't tell me this will make you sick, I am a meat cutter and have been eating burgers this way all my life.
Any hamburger is good, one of the best secrets of making a delicious hamburger is sautaying onions beforehand. You can put the sautayed onions on the bread and MAMMA MIA, you have got yourself one hell of a recipe.

Another favorite trick is to mix ketchup and mayonaise together to get a lovely pink sauce for french fries!!

You don't need one - just use the best mince you can get. Add some herbs and/or chopped onion if you like, and then add some lightly whisked egg to bind it all together before frying gently or grilling - your choice.Where can i find a good hamburger recipe?
One massively important thing here :

Are you from the US or Britain?

Because.. the mince you buy in the UK from most supermarkets doesn't have enough fat to make a good burger and isn't minced enough. That's the price we pay for a health conscious society. Lean meat is fashionable.

    For a good burger :

Get a butcher to mince a nice bit of slightly fatty steak (rump, popeseye or ribeye - more flavour than sirloin or fillet). Get him to mince it 3 to 4 times.

You need the fat to keep it moist and hold its shape.

Essentially you just want to season that and use a beefburger press or manually shape them. If the beef is perfect there's no need for anything else.

If you need to bind it then do this :

Mix a bowl of fresh breadcrumbs with some milk and leave to soak for 10 mins - it'll look like porridge.

Add a tablespoon or two of that along with an egg and some finely chopped onion (brunoise) to bind the meat.

Shallow fry for say 5-6 minutes a side depending on thickness (we're talking a good 1/2 to 3/4 inch or more) - don't move them around the pan or press down on them, just let them cook.

As with all meat, leave to rest for a few minutes before putting in a bun - let the meat relax and release any excess juice.

They'll taste and feel amazingly moist and meltingly nice (comparable to a perfect McDonalds burger - if there is such a thing).

    *edit

I was actually taught that in first year at Catering College and doubted the theory until we had to make them for a lesson - we manually minced the meat for a 5th time after adding the onion, egg and breadcrumb mix and the end result was fantastic.

    Beef and Bacon Burgers:

    6 tablespoons fat-skimmed chicken broth

    2 tablespoons mustard seeds

    1 pound ground lean beef

1/4 cup fine dried bread crumbs

    1 large egg

    1/2 teaspoon salt

4 bacon slices (about 4 oz. total)

4 ounces m眉nster cheese, thinly sliced

4 hamburger buns or rolls (4 in. wide), cut in half horizontally

    About 2 tablespoons mayonnaise

    Horseradish slaw (recipe below)

    1. In a small microwave-safe bowl or glass measuring cup, combine 2 tablespoons chicken broth and mustard seeds. Heat in a microwave oven on full power (100%) until bubbling, 15 to 30 seconds. Pour into a large bowl and add remaining 1/4 cup broth.

    2. Add ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, and salt; mix well.

    3. Divide beef mixture into four equal portions; shape each into an evenly thick 4-inch-wide round. Wrap a slice of bacon snugly in a ring around edge of each patty, overlapping ends and securing with a toothpick. If making ahead, lay patties in a single layer on a plate, cover airtight, and chill up to 1 day.

    4. Lay beef patties on a lightly oiled barbecue grill over a solid bed of medium coals or medium heat on a gas grill (you can hold your hand at grill level only 4 to 5 seconds); cover barbecue and open vents. Cook patties until browned on the bottom, 4 to 6 minutes. Turn with a wide spatula and continue to cook until patties feel firm when pressed and are no longer pink in the center (cut to test), 4 to 7 minutes longer. Cover meat evenly with cheese and lay buns, cut side down, on grill; cover and cook until cheese is melted and buns are toasted, 2 to 3 minutes.

    5. Spread toasted sides of each bun with mayonnaise. Set a beef patty on each bun bottom. Pull out toothpicks and discard. Top each with horseradish slaw and cover with bun top.

Horseradish slaw: In a blender or in a bowl with a fork, mix 1/4 cup cream cheese or Neufch芒tel (light cream) cheese with 3 tablespoons fat-skimmed chicken broth, 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. In a bowl, mix horseradish dressing with 3 cups finely shredded cabbage (8 oz.; sometimes labeled angel hair), 1 tablespoon minced onion, and salt and pepper to taste. If making ahead, cover and chill up to 1 day; mix before serving. Makes 1 1/2 cups.

    The recipe:

    1 lb hamburger meat

2 heaping tablespoons of chopped fresh rosemary leaves (not the stem)

    2 Tbsp A1 sauce

Salt and pepper to taste (perhaps half a teaspoon of each).

    Buns

    Lettuce

    Tomatoes, sliced

    Onions, sliced

    Avocado, peeled, pitted and sliced

    Mayonaise, ketchup, mustard

(For the low-carb version skip the bun.)

    Easy

Chop one small onion into v small cubes and put in to a bowl with your minced beef. Drop in the yolk of one egg, squirt in a little tomato ketchup (not too much) and some tobasco sauce if you want to give it a bit of a kick. Add a handful of breadcrumbs to bind together. Now season with a bit of salt and pepper (you can throw in some parsley too for flavour).

Now get in with your hands and mix the whole lot together and then shape into burgers of any size and thickness you want.

This also works for pork (add a little cider or chopped apple), chicken (add tarragon), lamb (add fresh mint). Make sure, particularly with chicken and pork that the burgers are cooked thouroughly (a bit of pink in a lamb or beef burger is great tho)!

    Happy barbecue!

    Hamburger Recipes anyone?

I'm looking for some great hamburger recipes to liven up ';hamburger day'; (every Friday)Hamburger Recipes anyone?
There are lots of alternatives, but you may be limited to what you have on hand in your refrigerator, freezer and pantry. I'd like to recommend a tool on kraftfoods.com that can help you come up with some new ideas for hamburger day that don't require a trip to the grocery store.

The ';Make it Now'; tool lets you enter 3 ingredients, then you get suggested recipes that all have those ingredients. That way, your dinner recommendations make sense with what you have on hand or what you're craving. You'll find the tool in the upper left hand side of this page:http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/Dinner/

For example, if you enter ';ground beef, rice and cheese'; you'll get 17 ideas using these 3 ingredients. Good luck!Hamburger Recipes anyone?
    Basic Ingredients:

Any amount of Ground beef (I prefer 80/20)

    Breadcrumbs

    1 egg

Then gather whatever else you want to put in it.

I want this particular batch to be spicy and sweet so I will also be adding:

    Worcestershire Sauce

    Tabasco Sauce

    Crushed Red Pepper

You can put almost anything into a burger, from peanut butter to fresh salsa to cheese. Experiment! What do you usually add TO your burger? Throw in some diced onions, peppers, even ketchup!

STEP 1 - Wash your hands and your countertop and plop a brick of your favorite thawed ground meat down on it. (Ground beef is being used above)

STEP 2 - Flatten and spread the ground hamburger meat so there is more surface area exposed.

STEP 3 - Add the egg along with whatever other ingredients you will be using. In the above picture I have added the egg, Tabasco sauce, worcestershire sauce, and a generous amount of crushed red pepper. No bread crumbs yet.

STEP 4 - Begin mixing all of the ingredients into the meat by folding the hamburger meat over itself and working it together with your hands. Fold and press.

STEP 5 - Continue kneading the hamburger meat mixture until you are satisfied that the ingredients are evenly distributed.

STEP 6 - Flatten the hamburger meat mixture against the counter once again.

STEP 7 - Lightly cover the top of the hamburger meat mixture with breadcrumbs and then mix it into the meat in the same way that you just did the other ingredients. The amount of breadcrumbs will vary from batch to batch depending on the amount of liquid ingredients you add. The idea here is to get the meat to a consistency where it holds together really well but is not overly wet or dry. When you can work a piece into a tight ball and plop it down on the counter without it deforming too much or breaking then you've got the right mix.

STEP 8 - Work the hamburger meat mixture into a symmetrical 'ball'.

STEP 9 - Split the ball up into equal sized portions. These will be your patties so decide how big you want your burgers to be. You can do this by hand or with a large knife. I find the knife is easier to get a good separation with.

STEP 10 - Take each hamburger meat portion and work it into a tight ball. Cup the meat between your hands and squeeze it as hard as you can to pack it together tightly.

STEP 11 - Once you have a tight ball of meat in your hand, slowly work it between your palms into a flat, patty shape. If the edges start to split, use the crease in the center of the palm of your hand to 'pinch' and work them back together. I always make more than I am planning on immediately cooking, so the extra hamburgers can fit between sheets of wax paper and then into a freezer bag to be frozen for later.

STEP 12 - Cook up some of these burgers using your favorite method, and serve on a toasted bun with the condiments of your choice. Mmmmmmm. I generally either use my trusty George Foreman or the outside BBQ.

Wow, was that some easy stuff, huh? Go ahead an experiment! Questions? Comments? Have a killer hamburger recipe you want me to add to the site? I can be reached at the following address:
    Pimento Cheese Burgers

    Ingredients

    Pimento Cheese:

1 cup shredded extra-sharp Cheddar, room temperature

1/3 cup shredded Monterey jack, room temperature

    3 tablespoons mayonnaise, room temperature

2 tablespoons cream cheese, room temperature

2 ounces jarred diced pimento peppers, drained

1 tablespoon bread and butter pickle juice

    1/2 tablespoon horseradish sauce

    1 teaspoon yellow mustard

    Honey Slaw:

    2 tablespoons mayonnaise

    1 tablespoon honey

    1 1/4 cups shredded cabbage

8 slices thick-cut applewood smoked bacon

    Patties:

    1 1/4 pounds ground chuck

1/4 pound cured and smoked country ham, finely chopped (or chopped in a food processor)

    1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

    4 potato hamburger buns, split

1/2 cup crushed kettle-cooked plain potato chips

    Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

To prepare Pimento Cheese, in a medium mixing bowl, combine Cheddar and Jack cheeses, mayonnaise, cream cheese, pimento peppers, pickle juice, horseradish sauce, and mustard; mix until well combined.

To prepare Honey Slaw, in a small mixing bowl combine mayonnaise, honey, and cabbage; mix until well combined.

Heat a 12-inch nonstick grill pan over medium-high heat. Add bacon and cook until the bacon is crispy, about 5 minutes, flipping once. Drain on paper towels. Pour off almost all of the bacon fat from the pan, leaving a very thin layer.

To make the patties, combine the beef, country ham, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Handling the meat as little as possible to avoid compacting it, mix well. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form into patties to fit the buns.

Using the same grill pan as before, cook the hamburgers over medium-high heat for 3 minutes per side or until cooked medium rare.

Meanwhile, place buns on a rack in the oven. Bake for 3 to 5 minutes. Also, place the plates that the burgers will be served on in the oven to heat.

To assemble the burgers, spread a generous amount of Pimento Cheese on the cut sides of the buns. On each bun bottom (on top of the Pimento Cheese), place a thin layer of Honey Slaw. Top the slaw with a burger patty, 2 slices of bacon, and crushed potato chips. Add the bun tops. Place the completed hamburgers on a nonstick baking sheet and bake in the oven for 1 minute. Serve burgers on warm plates.
Here's a recipe for Italian hambugers! You can try it out! :)

2-3 lbs ground sirloin or ground chuck

    Kraft sliced American cheese

    1 medium bell pepper

    1 medium onion

1 jar Boston market brown gravy

    flour

    1 15 oz can Hunt's tomato sauce

    1 15 oz can Hunt's diced tomatoes

    Minute Rice

    3 tablespoons cooking oil

    salt and pepper

Make thin hamburger patties (in even numbers two patties will make one hamburger).

Fold a piece of Kraft cheese into a square and place in the middle of one patty. Place another patty on top of the cheese filled patty. Knead together to make one big patty.

Dice onion and bell pepper, set aside. In electric skillet or large black iron skillet, add oil; brown hamburger patties on both sides, place on paper towels to drain.

Using the oil in the pan, make a thick brown gravy with flour and water, add salt and pepper to taste. Add jar of Boston Market Brown Gravy, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, chopped onion and green pepper, stir well and simmer for approximately 15 minutes.

Return hamburgers to sauce, cover and cook on low heat for approximately 1 hour, stirring frequently.

Make Minute Rice for the appropriate number of servings.

Place one hamburger on each serving of rice, cover with sauce mixture.

Goes well with fresh green beans or English peas and rolls.
Any dish that is made with ground beef can be made into a hamburger. For instance, instead of making a meat loaf, form the meat mixture into patties and serve as burgers with your topping (either mushroom soup or, my favorite, ketchup mixed with brown sugar %26amp; black pepper) as the sauce for the burger. One could also do this with taco meat - just mix a packet of taco seasoning in with the raw meat, form into patties, and serve with cheddar cheese, jalapenos, etc.

Simple is always good I just buy the already ground :)

And I has some garlic, onion, powder, and some pepper ENJOY!!

    Try with basil spread

    1 package of fresh basil

    1 cup of mayo

    small garlic clove

a little olive oil just to thin it out

Blend basil in food processor or blender then add garlic and mayo adn a little oil to get it a right spreading consistency
Keeping it somewhat simple is my idea, but with a twist.

Season the ground beef or turkey with garlic and onion powder and Italian seasoning. A little kosher salt and fresh ground pepper. Make two very flat patties.

Take cooked onions, mushrooms and a slice of swiss (or provolone) cheese and put it between the 2 thin patties and seal the edges. Then grill them. After letting them rest all that good stuff is inside and in every bite.
This is my recipe for hamburger and my family loves it very much.

    1-1/2 lb. ground beef,

    3 eggs,

    1/2 cup of ketchup,

    bread crumbs.

mix them all together and let put in the ref. for 1 or 2 hours

then shape them and cook it.

Just add those, tomatoes, lettuce onions and

hamburger bun, mustard, mayonnaise when u eat.
Try adding a package of Lipton Onion Soup mix to your meat for great Onion burger without the tears..

Or add a package of Hidden Vally Ranch Dip for delicious Ranch Burgers.

Or the simple one, my brother add Worchester sauce, Smoke Sauce and a small amt of BBQ sauce and frys it up.

    Hope that helps!!
Fridays are my steak day! But burgers are yummy too.

    Maybe I'll grill some tomorrow....

I like to mix in a little dijon mustard. (don't go overboard). Also, get some blue cheese crumbles and mix it in with the meat. It keeps it moist and it makes it taste really good! A little hot sauce on top after it's done gives a nice little kick. I like to make them and I call them my Cool Blue Red Hot burgers.
You use a recipe for HB's? I just make mine big and flat, thinnerin the center, so when they draw up as they cook the finished product is flat. I season w/ S%26amp;P and a dash or two of worcestershire. That's it!

Why not grill some onions along side the burgers? MmmM!

I am going to incorporate beer into a hamburger recipe this weekend. What is the best beer to use for this?

Favored beer? Regular beer? Lite beer? Is there a difference??I am going to incorporate beer into a hamburger recipe this weekend. What is the best beer to use for this?
You won't want to use a light beer, or any other pale lager for that matter. While beers like Budweiser or Miller High Life might be refreshing, they won't add the kind of flavor that you'd want to add to the burgers (at least not enough to make it noticeable). The best options will probably be either a beer with a lot of hops, or one with a strong maltiness.

For the former, any pale ale or India pale ale will do. I'd recommend using the selection of a local craft brewery, because it means a fresh beer at an affordable price. For the latter, the best bet is a good stout or porter. Once again, I'd recommend a local brew. If locally-brewed beers are unavailable or cost-prohibitive, the best stand-by is Samuel Adams Boston Lager. It's not the hoppiest beer or the maltiest, but it has plenty of both, is widely available, and doesn't cost too much.

Other people are suggesting Guinness. If you take that route, make sure to pick up the Extra Stout and not Guinness Draught. Extra Stout is the one in the somewhat stubbier bottle.I am going to incorporate beer into a hamburger recipe this weekend. What is the best beer to use for this?
find a single bottle of Guiness Stout
My sweetie is a Bud Lite man, but when it comes to our burgers, we saute portabello mushrooms and minced garlic in a splash of my white zinfandel wine %26amp; butter for a topping.......Top with a slice of provolone %26amp; it's a burger to die for!!
I know I might get some boos but I've always used Miller Lite for anything when it comes to cooking with beer.
If you are trying to add flavor, use a dark beer. They usually have a deeper and richer flavor than lighter-colored beers, whether domestic or imported.

If you only want to make the meat bit more tender, and add just a bit of difference in taste, anything will do, but be aware that the amount of time you allow for marinading makes a difference.

If you will use it up in one day or less, then this does not apply, but if you are leaving it for several days you may find the meat takes on a beer taste. .
If you can get your hands on Henninger I suggest the export spicy, premium. Or any spicy flavored beer for that matter.
I'd say whatever you're drinking, or have left over.

For a contest though, you want something with flavour.

Don't use that wimpy American or Lite beer.

In Canada, I'd use Rickard's Red or Alexander Keith's.
If it has to be beer, I recommend Guinness Stout.

Personally I prefer red wine, such as a good Merlot for a marinade.

I recommend that you try both an see what you think.
For several reasons I would use a good stout beer like guiness. You will need a beer that has a definate flavor that will not become lost as the heat removes some of its powers. Also a good lager , would be great to add to the flavor with that extra shot of hops and barley flavor.

  • What's your favorite hamburger recipe?

I'd like to make me some hamburgers for dinner tonight. I'm looking for some original suggestions for the ultimate burger. So what's your killer recipe?

Preferably nothing classic original tasty recipes using as many fresh ingredients as possibleWhat's your favorite hamburger recipe?
So you don't want anything classic??

If I were to make burgers right now this is what I would do:

    1 lb beef

    1/2 small onion, diced

    1 tsp garlic powder

    1 TB woresteshire sauce

2 slices bacon, cut into little pieces

    1/2 cup blue cheese, crumbled

    salt and pepper

Combine all ingredients, form into patties, indenting a tiny bit in the center of each patty. Grill on a really high heat, prefferably one with a big flame to really broil the outside..

Top with bib lettuce, a slice of cooked bacon, tomatoe, and red onion, dijon mustard. What's your favorite hamburger recipe?
I've added Liptons Onion Soup mix to the ground beef before making them into hamburger paddies. Thats real good but also high in salt so watch. Other variations are adding BBQ sauce with chopped onions to the meat. Anything is possible.
Here is a great burger...The cream is the secret.

2 pounds chopped beef chuck or round

    1 onion

    1 tablespoon heavy cream

    Freshly ground black pepper

    Unsalted butter

    Vegetable oil, as needed

    Kosher salt, to taste

Spread the meat out on a board and grate 2 to 3 tablespoons of onion into it鈥攗se a fairly fine grater so you get just the juice and very finely grated raw onion. Now mix in about a tablespoon of heavy cream and some freshly ground black pepper, to taste. Form into patties--a 6 to 8-ounce patty for an average serving.

Using a black iron skillet or your best copper one or your pet aluminum frying pan, Teflon-coated or not (with a Teflon coating you won't need much fat, just a little bit for flavor), and cook the hamburgers in the butter and oil over fairly high heat, giving it 4 to 5 minutes a side, depending on how well done you like it. Salt this creamy, oniony, peppery hamburger before serving it on a buttered bun or English muffin, or as a main course with sliced tomatoes and onions or some home-fried potatoes.

    * You could sub. turkey for beef with this recipe.

    2 med onions (finely chopped)

I Like the 'Gangsta Burger'. You take 1/2 lb. hamburger meat and 1/2 lb. deer sausage, add chopped red and green bell peppers and grill. The deer sausage adds the spices for you.

Or you can go with Turkey Burgers. Ground turkey an egg, worchestershire, liquid smoke, lemon pepper, onion, garlic. You can use the same recipe with hamburger meat but add my secret ingredient (cinnamon) just a pinch. It really DOES something to beef (any kind). And bell peppers are ALWAYS good.

    I like stuffed taco burgers!

1 packet of Taco meat seasoning per 1# ground beef

mince some onion, bell pepper, garlic . mix all of this together with a few tablespoons of water per packet

grate some cheese - I like sharp cheddar

Make two thin patties; put a small ball of cheese in the middle of one and then put the other patty on top. pinch the edges together so the cheese stays inside.

    grill or fry.

any or all of these to top it off:

    onion

    tomato

    lettuce

    avocado slices or guacamole

    salsa

cheddar, jalpeno jack, or any cheese

    sour cream

    don't forget the seasoned fries!

    2parts salt

1part each paprika, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder and cayenne pepper

mix well (adjust to your tastes, of course)

slice up some fresh potatoes; toss them in some olive oil and 1/2 the seasoning salt you just made

pop in 400 degree oven for about 30 minutes, give or take

sprinkle on some more of that seas salt and enjoy with the burgers

    Don't forget the beer!
    Minced beef

    1 x Green chilli

    1/2 an onion

1/2 teaspoon chilli powder or cayenne pepper

Put the beef in a blender and blitz for a few seconds, so that some of the meat is pureed, some not. This will stop the burger falling apart

Put the beef in a bowl

Thinly slice the chilli and the onion, and powder and add to the mix. Stir in well.

Make balls of the mix in your hands (a little flour stops it sticking to your hands) then squash to make a burger shape.

Either grill, griddle or BBQ to your taste, Serve in a sesame seed bun with cheese and burger relish, maybe a rasher of bacon.

1 avocado - peeled, pitted and sliced

    1 bunch green onions

    Cooking Instructions

    Preheat the oven's broiler.

In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, onion soup mix, water, garlic, hot pepper sauce, chili powder, ketchup, mustard and pepper using your hands. Pat into 4 large thick patties. Place them on a broiler pan.

Broil the burgers for about 15 minutes per side, or until well done. Place buns on the broiler pan and toast briefly. Place whole green onions on the broiler pan at the same time, and just toast until limp.

These are some burger recieps that are not everyday and normal but still super yummy. The first one is my favorite.

Of course you can always just press some ground beef together and fry it up.. That will give you a good basic burger, no need to add bread crumbs or eggs even though most people will suggest it.

Most of these say to grill them but you can use the broiler or pan fry them.
