Mom's Big Burgers

Ingredients

2 pounds lean ground beef

1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix

1/2 cup water

2 cloves garlic, chopped

1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce

1 pinch chili powder

1/4 teaspoon ketchup

1/4 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard

1 pinch ground black pepper

4 cracked wheat hamburger buns

4 slices pepperjack cheese

1 avocado - peeled, pitted and sliced

1 bunch green onions

Cooking Instructions

Preheat the oven's broiler.

In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, onion soup mix, water, garlic, hot pepper sauce, chili powder, ketchup, mustard and pepper using your hands. Pat into 4 large thick patties. Place them on a broiler pan.

Broil the burgers for about 15 minutes per side, or until well done. Place buns on the broiler pan and toast briefly. Place whole green onions on the broiler pan at the same time, and just toast until limp.

Place burger patties onto the bottom halves of the buns and top each one with a slice of cheese and some avocado slices. Top with the top buns. Serve with green onions
These are some burger recieps that are not everyday and normal but still super yummy. The first one is my favorite.

Of course you can always just press some ground beef together and fry it up.. That will give you a good basic burger, no need to add bread crumbs or eggs even though most people will suggest it.

Most of these say to grill them but you can use the broiler or pan fry them.

Teriyaki Burgers:

1 1/2 pds hamburger

1 8 oz can water chestnuts (drained and chopped)

Marinade:

1/3 cup reduced sodium beef broth or sherry

1/2 cup reduced sodium soy sauce

2 green onions chopped

1 tbsp brown sugar

2 garlic cloves-minced

1/2 tsp ground ginger

6 buns

6 Pineapple rings

6 slices swiss or provolone cheese

Mix the burger and water chestnuts. Shape into 6 burgers and place in a 13x9 pan.

Mix all marinade ingredients and save out 1/4 cup. Pour remaining marinade over burgers. Marinate at least 2-3 hours or longer (I did a set for a day and 1/2 and they were super awesome). Turn frequently.

Grill patties brushing with remaining marinade. Grill the pineapple rings for about 1-2 minutes per side. Top the burgers with a pineapple ring, and a slice of cheese. Serve on buns. Mmmmmmmm.

These are good to make up a bunch and freeze to pull out and make later.

the lipton soup idea sounds good maybe we will try it!

We make one with chopped onions and a little A1 sauce(any steak sauce) and a little garlic.
The secret is to add a little teriyaki marinade to the beef. Makes for a whole lot of difference. TRY IT!
Add A1 steak sauce or Lipton Onion Soup mix and you will always have a great burger.
